Description

Scammers often initiate contact with potential scam victims through phone calls or Short Message Services (SMSes).

ScamShield actively works in the background to filter scam SMSes and block calls from numbers used in illegal activities, preventing scammers from contacting you.

You can check your Junk messages folder to see what scam SMSes ScamShield has filtered for you. You can also report scam messages and phone calls and these reports will be sent to the Singapore Police Force for review.

After app update, Unable to see the “Call Blocking & Identification” in settings

Dear developers

After your update, i am unable to see “Call blocking & Identification”.
Though able to activate scamshield with workaround listed below, perhaps developers need to check your codes again or maybe update the Scamshield guide in phone section as the workaround below is only in Messages section of your user guide.

I am on iOS 15.0.2, iPhone 13 Pro Max I

tried to resolve with the following workaround (based on reviews and steps by users in Apple support and Messages section of Scamshield guide):

1. Settings
2. Privacy
3. Tracking —> Switch on “Allow Apps to Track”
4. Phone —> you will see “Call Blocking & Identification” reappears
5. Select “Call Blocking & Identification”
6. You will see “Scamshield” under “Call Identification Apps” —> Activate by switching on

Once done, I switched off the “Allow Apps to Track” Scamshield activated, but not sure Scamshield blocks off spam calls if i switch off “Allow Apps to track”.

Am trying this out first to see if spam / robo calls are blocked.

Good initiative. But room to improve.

Good initiative by SG Gov. Still received 2 spam call from +0065 since I installed this app few days ago. Two improvement to suggest. Firstly, after received junk SMS, the notification still there (shown 1 or 2 at upper right corner of SMS app logo). To “remove” this number (depends on number of junk SMS received), I need to read the junk SMS (at the end I still have to read the junk SMS and cannot ignore them). Junk SMS should not be included in this notification count (which shown on top of SMS app logo). Secondly, spam call was filtered out. But I am not sure whether genuine calls were also filtered by the app. It would be useful for me if there is a function for me to check which calls (number and time of calling) were filtered by the app. Thanks developer! Good work.

Can’t download my WhatsApp videos

Hello
It’s a very good initiative to have such a ML/AI based app linked to Govt data base of spurious activity. I downloaded the app , immediately everything was fine but gradually realised my phone to start getting slower with regard to responses and ultimately was not able to download even videos which were sent in WhatsApp. I initially thought it could have been some setting as not to use 4G to download but only wifi so I tried all of it with no luck. I then decided to delete the app to restore to a point before the app was installed with no success. The sms section turns a black screen when I try to click and read my sms. I then tried to reload the app to be able to get functional but unable to reload again from the App Store. Any comments or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Developer Response ,

Hi,
The permissions granted by iOS to us would only allow us to get information from unknown SMS and incoming calls. We are only allowed to tell iOS back whether or not to filter the SMS or Call.

Can I check if the download was from the official Apple Store. Can I advise if you check the phone for other potential malware as it is unlikely that ScamShield can do any of the following you mentioned.
