Sisters' Islands Marine Park

Singapore's first marine park protects the country's coral reefs and marine life. It promotes marine-related education, research and conservation activities.
Notices:
  1. Due to enhancement works at Sisters' Islands Marine Park, all dive trail activities have been suspended until further notice.
    Please check the website for the latest updates.

Location

This park comprises Sisters' Islands and the western reefs of both St John's Island and Pulau Tekukor.

Getting here

Catch a ferry from Marina South Pier (via Singapore Island Cruise or Marina South Ferries).

Take note of the opening status for each area of the park:

  • St John's Island: Open. The last public ferry leaves at 6pm.
  • Big Sister's Island: Closed for enhancement works till 2024.
  • Other areas (including Small Sisters' Island): These are not open to the public as they are strictly for conservation and research.
  • Do not camp, barbecue or fish.
  • Do not collect or remove any plants, animals or shells from the park.
  • Vessels are not permitted to enter the lagoon.

Found in the waters off Small Sister's Island, this coral nursery enhances the reef and protects locally rare corals that may be threatened by coral bleaching.

Coral reefs

The coral reefs provide food, shelter and protection for rare and endangered species of seahorses, clams, sponges and more.

Bendera Bay
Bendera Bay

This 3.9-hectare lagoon has a variety of mangrove, coral, seagrass, sandy shore and rocky shore habitats. It is closed for research and conservation activities.

Plant and animals

Giant clams
Giant clams

Known to be the largest living bivalve molluscs, these clams comes in a variety of colours. Look out for the Fluted Giant Clam, which can reach 40cm in length.

Sharks, turtles and rays
Sharks, turtles and rays

If you are really lucky, you might spot a bamboo shark resting in the sand or catch a Hawksbill Turtle or eagle ray swimming past!

Nudibranches
Nudibranches

It is hard to spot these tiny sea slugs, but their bright colours make them a photographer's favourite.

Reef fish
Reef fish

There are over 100 species of reef fish in Singapore. Look out for the Clownfish, Copperband Butterflyfish, or the rare Frogfish camouflaged in the reef.

Sponges
Sponges

Look out for over 200 species of sponges including the Neptune's Cup Sponge, which was believed to be extinct until it was spotted in Singapore in 2011.

Seahorses
Seahorses

In areas with calm waters, look out for seahorses hiding in the seagrass meadows.
