SING LIT BODY SLAM
(6–7 OCT 2017, ALIWAL ARTS CENTRE)

Line breaks and low blows, lyric verse and leotards...

What could pro-wrestling and poetry have in common? More than you think.

Pro wrestling is improvised physical theatre, storytelling through a fusion of acrobatics and combat sport. Grapple MAX takes this art out of the ring, and into an intimate, up-close environment. With colourful, larger-than-life characters, we perform to maximise audience engagement, creating an interactive "fight club" experience like no other.

In this hour-long showdown, be prepared to cheer and hoot and holler for your favourite pair when a wrestler tag teams with a poet. As the fighters slam one another on the mats, their literary counterparts will do the same on stage, culminating in an epic series of clashes unlike anything you've ever seen before.

It's Epic Rap Battles meets World Wrestling Entertainment as Sing Lit Station collaborates with Grapple MAX Dojo to bring you an experimental showcase, integrating spoken word poetry into a professional wrestling match.

Don't miss the world's first fusion of these two storytelling art forms. Are you ready to be entertained?
