GALLERY CHILDREN’S BIENNALE 2023:

LET'S MAKE A BETTER PLACE

 

The 2023 edition of the Gallery Children’s Biennale featured 11 interactive and immersive artworks responding to the theme of “Let’s Make A Better Place,” inviting children and adults to discover how we can create a world built upon this edition’s core values of care, respect, imagination and collaboration.

Ten artists from Singapore and beyond conceived new artworks for the Biennale. These artists are: Arahmaiani (Indonesia), Chiang Yu Xiang (Singapore), International Museum of Children’s Art (Norway), Fadilah Karim (Malaysia), LittleCr3atures® (Singapore) x Jevon Chandra (Singapore/Indonesia) x Lynette Quek (Singapore), Tawatchai Puntusawasdi (Thailand), Izziyana Suhaimi (Singapore), Wang Ruobing (Singapore), Kumi Yamashita (Japan/USA), and Ly Yeow (Singapore).

Centered on art created for, with, and by children, the Biennale is a warm and welcoming space for everyone to have conversations about their dreams, ideas, and even struggles. This edition also includes both digital engagement and on-site programmes to inspire visitors of all ages.

The Gallery Children’s Biennale 2023: Let’s Make A Better Place took place from 27 May 2023 – 31 March 2024. The new edition will be out in May 2025, so stay tuned!

This artwork is inspired by the world I wanted to live in as a child. I longed to connect with the people, sights, scents, and sounds from unfamiliar places. There are two parts to this artwork—a large central sculpture and a wall of profiles of people that I met during my travels.
